Isn’t the mountain laurel pretty?? This shrub blooms in the North Carolina mountains mid spring around late May or early June. It blooms in light pink clusters. This particular shrub is grown at our mountain home in western NC.
Have you ever seen the orange flame azaleas blooming in the mountains in middle springtime?? They are gorgeous! If you do see the orange blooms, take notice and enjoy. They aren’t very plentiful. This is a photo of the blooms up close.

This is purple Catawba Rhododendron blooming in the North Carolina Appalachian Mountains during the spring. You’ll find this species growing in the eastern part of the United States, mainly in the mountains in late May or early June.
