Nice shot Jill!
I have never captured a shot of butterflies puddling where the background suited me. This background really works well!

I've been fortunate to capture one black swallowtail last summer, either Spicebush or Eastern Tiger, they look very similar, but, nothing like what you've posted here in a group on the ground! The fading blue into black is stunning and Salty is right, the background suites the subject and allows for an excellent contrast!
